Jason Eppink's Catalogue of Creative Triumphs

The first Signal to Noise, a series of late-night art parties, was thrown to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Museum of the Moving Image. The event took over the Museum’s newly redesigned and renovated building with a three-ring circus of live and electronic music, moving image performances, and interactive art. Artists, hackers, musicians, and filmmakers activated every area of the Museum late into the night.

Nick Yulman and his robotic orchestra accompanied silent films; Martha Colburn performed live double-projections accompanied by Thollem McDonas, Greg Saunier, John Keay, Mike Evans, Laura Ortman, Matt Marinelli, Tom Carter and Marc Orleans; chiptune artists Bit Shifter and Nullsleep electrified the dance floor with their hacked Gameboys, with outpt and Paris holding down the visuals; laptock rock band Project Jenny, Project Jan rattled the walls; Scott Draves and the Electric Sheep evolved on screen; Victoria Keddie, with Bradley Eros and Lary 7, lead a Kodachrome funeral with prepared violin; DJ $mall ¢hange laid down the beat; Fall On Your Sword accompanied mashed-up videos with live electro-jams; VJ Shantell Martin extracted partygoers’ digital auras with Liz Armstrong on the decks; Sweatshoppe passed out video paint rollers; and Babycastles dropped their DIY art game cabinets and unleashed a roving cyborg arcade.
