Jason Eppink's Catalogue of Creative Triumphs

Every winter, Flux Factory holds an auction benefit to raise money for its annual budget. In 2012, I gave Flux Factory a check for $100 with a blank recipient, an art market provocation with unexpected results. This year, I elaborated on the idea by donating a check where both the amount and recipient were left blank. The check required bidders to assess both my cultural value and my net worth.

The winner, whom I had never met, paid $151 for the blank check. The project continues as she decides whether or not to cash the check, and if so, how high of an amount she can fill in without bouncing it.
